Our Story

#shihsaidweckyes

If you're here, you know our story. In fact, you probably did your time listening to Serena complain about something Sascha did, only to find yourself siding with Sascha. Maybe you were there during our major milestones: witnessing the beginning of our relationship, waving goodbye to us in Beijing, or meeting us in Berlin.

Perhaps you even appeared earlier in our story, guiding us through the good times and bad, from our younger selves to who we are now.

We want to take this opportunity to celebrate us as a couple and having you on this journey with us.

Plan to fly into Barcelona-El Prat Airport, (BCN).

Our wedding will take place in Hotel Miramar Barcelona. The exact address for the Hotel is Plaça de Carlos Ibáñez, 3, Sants-Montjuïc, 08038 Barcelona, Spain.

There are several transportation options in Barcelona:

  1. Metro: Barcelona’s metro system is a fast and convenient way to travel, covering most areas of the city.

  2. Bus: Barcelona has an extensive bus network, including both buses and trams, which can take you to various corners of the city. Tickets can be purchased at Metro stations.

  3. Taxi/Uber: Taxis are readily available throughout the city and take credit/debit card payment. Ubers also work well. Drivers more/less speak English.

We recommend staying in Barcelona at least September 13-15, 2024 to comfortably attend the ceremony on Saturday the 14th

Daytime temperatures usually range from 22°C to 28°C (72°F to 82°F) in Barcelona. While rain is less common compared to the earlier months of the year, there is still a chance of occasional showers. Rainfall is generally light and sporadic.

We hope to make our wedding celebrations small and intimate on Sep 14th.  The celebrations will go late into the evening, and the music will include heavy profanity. For these reasons, we ask that you leave your little one(s) at home (there will be limited exceptions). We will therefore not have any special accommodations for kids. If this will make planning extremely difficult, please let us know.

Sep 15th brunch will be casual and open to all (details TBD).

On September 14th, the welcome drinks and ceremony will take place outdoors and the rest of the event will take place indoors (with AC) with an outdoor terrace. Bring sunglasses :). The brunch on September 15th is TBD but will most likely be indoors.

The dress code for our wedding ceremony (September 14th) is cocktail attire and smart casual for the wedding brunch (September 15th). The venue isn’t entirely flat, so we don’t recommend thin heels. The color code of the wedding will be white, soft pink, beige, blush and black. Please feel free to either follow the color code or whatever makes you feel the most dazzling in.

You coming all the way to share this moment with us is already a gift. If you’d still like to contribute to our honeymoon fund, please visit the honeymoon fund tab above. As we will be flying home and Serena will have another trip directly after the wedding, please do not bring physical gifts. Thank you!

NOW! There will be a few events going on in the city so hotels will be booked out quickly and prices will continue to increase. Please let us know if you need help.

Yes, please expect heavy traffic, especially if you’re planning to travel by taxi/Uber. Serena will be very sad if you arrive late to the ceremony and yes, she will notice.

Yes, please let us know if you do plan on parking at the Hotel Miramar.

Unfortunate, we were unable to get rooms blocked but we were able to lock in a room price at Hotel Miramar for around 400+/night. The cheapest option is to share Airbnbs with other folks joining the wedding. If you need this, please let us know and we can connect you with other attendees.

Suggested colors are white, soft pink, beige, blush, and black. As FYI, Sascha will be wearing a gray suit, groomsmen will be in black, and bridesmaids will be in soft pink. You can try either select a color outside of these or just wear whatever color(s) you feel best in.

You will be obligated to buy us a drink (half-jokes aside, as it’ll be a small wedding, please, please try to arrive on-time).

If we haven’t met your potential date, we’d prefer that you come alone to keep the intimate setting of the party. You’ll at least know a handful of people attending. However, if you’d like to bring one anyway, you can.

Well, well, well, you shouldn’t have chosen French when you had the choice, should you? Just kidding! We can’t speak it either. It’ll be totally fine. Barcelona works well with English.
